North Star Medical Research

North Star Medical Research was founded in April, 2007 by Mark J. Woyshville, MD.  After 15 years of experience in the field of clinical research, he aspired to start a company dedicated to providing sponsors with the highest quality trial data in a timely manner.  Dr. Woyshville is board-certified in both Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and a Member of the Sleep Research Society.  He is licensed to practice in the State of Ohio.

Precision Navigation

NSMR is a freestanding, independent clinical research company. Although we perform research with virtually all clinical populations and for almost every disease state, we have particular expertise in neuropsychiatric and neurosleep indications. NSMR was founded by Dr. Mark J. Woyshville, CEO and Medical Director, to perform focused, intensive, and interdisciplinary clinical research. We combine the precision navigation expected of an academic institution with the flexibility of an independent entity. This allows us to act and react in a timely fashion to emerging needs and trends in medical research.

Our team conducts sophisticated clinical research in such diverse areas as sleep disorders (Narcolepsy, Excessive Daytime Sleepiness, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Circadian Rhythm Disturbances, and Restless Legs Syndrome), neurologic and neuropsychiatric disorders, fibromyalgia and other complex rheumatologic diagnostic entities, and psychiatric illness including but not limited to:  Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and other psychoses, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and substance and alcohol abuse and dependency.

General medical studies include: back pain, hypertension, stuttering, Opiate induced constipation, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, shift work disorder and traumatic brain injury.  Our dedication to perform general medical studies continues to grow.    In 2010 we are excited to have conducted our first clinical trials within the juvenile and pediatric populations.
